Helivac Emergency Medical Service
Helivac provides South Africa’s first subscriber-driven, advanced medical rescue product that dispenses with the need for medical aid subscription or authorization. HELIVAC MEDICAL HELICOPTER SERVICES
In its infancy HELIVAC MEDICAL HELICOPTER SERVICES was created to fill a gap in the currently under-serviced emergency air rescue segment of South Africa’s emergency services. Today HELIVAC MEDICAL HELICOPTER SERVICES is an air emergency service concept that is unique to South Africa:

Helivac will provide a member with the following services as a result of a member's involvement in a Medical Emergency:
Emergency Medical Advice and Assistance Hotline:
In addition to the general medical advice service, one call to the call centre will trigger the medical operators to guide a person through a medical crisis situation involving the member by providing emergency advice or by organising for the Member to receive the support required, utilising the 24 hour Contact Centre Doctor.
This service includes referrals to Crisis lines in case of:
A Medical Doctor will be available through the Contact 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Emergency Medical Response to the scene of a Medical Emergency:
An appropriate road will be undertaken utilising an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, (all of which are manned by appropriately qualified and experienced emergency care practitioners, paramedics or Doctors) immediately to the scene of a medical emergency where appropriate lifesaving support will be provided to the member and where relevant, the member will be stabilised before transfer is provided to the closest appropriate medical facility either by road or air.
Medical Transportation:
In the event of a Member’s involvement in a Medical Emergency, Helivac will provide Emergency Medical Transportation by road or Air under appropriate medical supervision, if necessary, to the nearest medical facility capable of providing adequate care. Medical considerations, the degree of urgency, the member's state and fitness to travel and other considerations. The payments of these costs are covered under the benefit schedule.
R30,000.00 Stated Benefit:
If you have suffered a medical trauma and are transported by Helivac’s helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS), you will receive a cash back amount of R30 000.00. This amount can be used for medical bills, or as deposit at a private hospital, or as cash back in your pocket. This amount can be split between the owner of the policy and beneficiary.
